I attended the web conference on 11/17/10. It was informative and Dr. Mason was very helpful. But there was something that bothered me. In February we were informed about the internship assignment. This was a shock as it was not part of the program when we enrolled last June. At one of the web conferences Dr. Abernathy assured us that we didn't need to have activities for all 33 indicators, just the 8 standards. Taking that in good faith that was how I designed my field based activities.
I was always a bit concerned as to what the final requirements were going to be because they have changed "mid-stream" before. The internship handbook always said 100 hours and all 33 indicators. While I knew we would not have to do ALL of it, I was not sure what would be. Anyway, at the conference we were informed that we only needed 50 hours but that we needed all 33 indicators!! I was upset and let Dr. Mason know that we were told in an earlier conference we didn't need all 33. I did understand that most of my activities would have multiple indicators. What was bothering me was the "ALL indicators". I knew there were undoubtedly some that would not be covered by my activities.
Well, the good news is that we are now to TRY and have all 33 indicators, but we must have all 8 standards. At the end of the day, I will probably only be short a handful of indicators. But my fear was that I would not pass this final course, due to missing indicators. I'm a happy camper now!!
